Dear Neighbors,

This has been an overwhelming weekend for all of us. Devastating storms have ripped through our neighborhoods and the downtown area leaving many in need of shelter and home repairs. I have been out in the communities of Vine City and East Atlanta actively cleaning up debris, and encouraging citizens to band together. If anyone needs assistance please call my office at 404-330-6302 or The Fuller Center for Housing, a coordinating program helping Atlanta residents, at 404-835-7728. We can get you the assistance you need. Also, please call if you think you have resources that can assist storm victims.

This past week 15 neighborhoods participated in the 30th Annual Atlanta Home Show’s first time exhibit: “Atlanta’s Secret Places.” Sadly, the show was cut short by two days when the Georgia World Congress Center took a direct tornado hit on Friday night. Fortunately, no one was in the building at the time of the storm, but the building did suffer enough damage to close down the show.

The exhibit was a great success on the two days that it was up, on Thursday and Friday. Every neighborhood exhibit looked extremely professional and well put together. Our very knowledgeable neighborhood representatives proudly marketed their unique communities to the home show consumers. I am so glad to have had this opportunity, and we look forward to future Home Show exhibits in the coming years!

My thoughts are with all the residents impacted by the tornados and severe weather this weekend. Again, please do not hesitate to contact my office if you need any storm assistance.

Sincerely yours,
Mary Norwood
